NGB Training Courses
All sports have a National Governing Body (NGB) which controls all aspects of the sport across the country they are operating in. They include The Football Association, British Dodgeball, England Athletics. They are important social institutions and custodians of tradition, influencing who gets to play sport and on what terms.
All NGBs offer coaching and officiating pathways which can be accessed by anyone who wants to get involved in these areas of the sport. Courses have historically been held in face to face settings with elements of theory and practical learning taking place. These courses are aimed at all different levels so if you have not been involved before do not be concerned.
During the current times many NGBs have moved elements of their coaching and officiating courses online so you can use this time to start your future development in these areas.
As well as official courses many NGBs are also offering webinars online. These sessions are giving learning on many areas from experts in the sports and definitely worth checking out the NGB website for your sport to see what is on offer that you can benefit from. Most of these sessions can be accessed free of charge.
The following information about available courses and webinars can be found through the website of the NGB for your sport. If you cannot find what you are looking for please contact our Officer for Workforce and Employability Ellen on sportsvolunteer@manchester.ac.uk
There are opportunities to access bursary funding to help with the cost of any such training courses if you are an active volunteer on the Sports Volunteer Scheme. Find more information about funding on our main Volunteering Page.
