About
We currently offer surfing all through our sport club programme. Our University of Manchester Surf Club works hard to provide opportunities for players both new to the sport and within our BUCS programme to support those who want to perform in high level university competition. Whilst we don’t currently offer surf through our Sporticipate or our Sport League programmes, we are constantly reviewing how we can get more students involved in sport.
All the information you need to know about surf should be here but if you do have any further questions, we would love to hear from you.
Surf Club
UMSC is a chilled group of guys and girls who like to kick back, relax and catch them waves. Wether you’ve been surfing all your life or never set foot in water you will always find someone of the same ability as you. It doesn’t take long to feel like one of the gang.
The first question on everybody’s lips is of course, “Where do you surf in Manchester?” – Due to the landlocked nature of our city, we run regular weekend trips to surfing hotspots such as Scarborough, Abersoch, Pembrokeshire and Newquay for the annual BUCs competition. If the prospects of surfing in British waters doesn’t tickle your fancy, we organise week-long trips abroad over Easter. In recent years we’ve dipped to Morocco, Portugal and Fuerteventura.
Club Philosophy
We readily welcome surfers of all abilities and encourage members to develop their surfing skills in a relaxed, sociable environment.
