UoM Sport Celebrates TASS Practitioner of the Year Award and New Role in England Rugby U18 Girls' Development

UoM Sport wins ‘TASS Practitioner of the Year’ award at the annual National TASS Conference 

Each year, the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) hold their prestigious practitioner of the year awards during their annual conference. The awards are held across five categories, recognising the multidisciplinary support that each of the 45 TASS delivery sites across the country provides. The award categories include Nutrition, Psychology, Lifestyle, Physiotherapy and Strength and Conditioning.  

This year, our University of Manchester Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach, Nathan Norris, was announced as the winner of the ‘S&C Practitioner of the Year’ Award 2024 on the second day of the conference. 

Jon Kantor, Perfomance Sport Officer said, ‘This fantastic award recognises the outstanding work delivered in our Performance Sport programme here at UoM Sport. Nathan winning this award is much deserved and testament to his hard work and dedication to support all our athletes and teams.’ 

 

 

Nathan added ‘I am extremely humbled and proud to be the recipient of this award. I consider it a real privilege to support the TASS athletes at UoM Sport as part of my role. I am delighted to accept this award on behalf of both me and the Performance Sport Team who work tirelessly to support our athletes day in and day out.’ 

UoM Sport to Deliver Strength and Conditioning to England Rugby U18 Girls Player Development Pathway  

UoM Sport is delighted to announce that it will deliver the Strength and Conditioning provision of England U18 Girls in the Lancashire, Cheshire, and Staffordshire regions for their Player Development Group. 

This programme will begin in August and will see some of the top aspiring female U18 rugby players receive Strength and Conditioning support from Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach Nathan Norris. 

Nathan said ‘we are delighted to be partnering with the RFU to support their girls U18 programme in the region. It’s an exciting opportunity for a new phase of development within women’s rugby in this country. We are proud to provide Strength and Conditioning support to a number of teams and national governing bodies in the regional and nationally including Manchester Giants, Manchester Thunder pathway, British Volleyball Sitting Men’s Squad and now England Rugby.’
