UoM Sport

Sport Partnership Programme

The University of Manchester has established sport partnerships with both the FA and the RFU. Click below to find out more about the:

FA Partnership

The University of Manchester has a Tier 1 status as part of the FA's University Football Development Hub initiative and is one of eight national Women's High Performance Centres in conjunction with MMU.

FA University Grassroots Hub

UoM Sport is delighted to continue the successful partnership with The FA and BUCS to deliver the University Grassroots Hub initiative until 2021! This allows us to work closely with local community groups including Charter Standard Clubs and education providers to deliver and develop football in the Manchester area. Through utilising our facilities, student body and sporting expertise we are looking to establish key partnerships that will provide new opportunities for children and young people to love their footballing experience.

If you are interested in how your organisation can get involved with the Hub please contact Martin Cropper (martin.cropper@manchester.ac.uk), Football Development Officer.

FA Women's High Performance Football Centre

Manchester Metropolitan University and The University of Manchester are to become a high performance centre for women’s football. Working in partnership, the Manchester consortium has been selected as one of just eight universities in the country to become a centre of excellence for women’s football. The new initiative from the FA will provide an educational and community-based setting to recruit, develop and deploy coaches, who will lead and inspire player development specifically in the women’s and girls’ game.

If you are interested in how you can get involved with the WHPFC please contact Charlotte Healy (c.healy@mmu.ac.uk), Women's Coach Development Officer.

RFU Partnership

The University of Manchester alongside Manchester Metropolitan University have achieved a partnership with the RFU. This allows us to help provide students with a higher quality of playing opportunities over varying ability levels. Through utilising our facilities, sport expertise and the high level of coaches that deliver the session, we can work together to help develop rugby and provide opportunities for all.

However, it does not stop there; this partnership allows students to not only develop their rugby skills, but also allows personal development. The University has multiple links to local community clubs, who can help provide coaching experience and guide students with the support they need to become a coach and help inspire the next generation of the rugby community.

Workforce Opportunities

As a result of these partnerships we have the ability to offer fantastic workforce opportunities to students, where we can help support them through their journey. Click below to find out more about our workforce opportunities within:
