About the Club

MUMC train at least twice a week at indoor venues in Manchester. Our main indoor climbing session is on Wednesday afternoons at Manchester Climbing Centre. For those that fancy a spot of indoor bouldering, we head to either The Depot Manchester, or Rock Over Climbing on Monday evenings. We also head out on regular meets to local outdoor venues (usually the Peak District) and a few times a year on weekend trips to North Wales, the Lake District, Pembrokeshire and Scotland. On top of this there is the annual week-long trip to the mecca of bouldering, Fontainebleau in France. Regular escapes from the big city are guaranteed for everyone!

Club Philosophy

We aim to introduce newcomers to the sport of climbing by providing support and instruction in basic skills and essential safety aspects. We also cater for more experienced climbers by organising a multitude of exciting trips and socials, and are committed to increasing the enjoyment of climbing by providing a social framework for all club members.

Both bouldering and lead climbing teams compete annually at BUCS and the Christie Cup. Larger teams of boulderers compete at less formal, more regular competitions throughout the academic year.

Training Times and Locations

Various other fitness and training sessions are arranged on different evenings throughout the year.
