About the Club

We are one of the largest, proudest, and most socially active clubs in the AU. We train every Monday Evening, play at a strong standard in the BUCS league every Wednesday, and have a unique partnership with the renowned Brooklands Team for optional matches at the weekend.

Whilst you may not be spending every day of your week playing hockey, the club will make you feel like your university career is defined by your participation in this society. We’re looking for hockey lovers who are looking to be a part of the MUMHC on and off the field.

Club Philosophy

We are dedicated to our hockey, proud of our players, and in reality just a good group of guys who have a laugh.

With the GB Mens U21 Mens Manager training our squad, ex England U21 captains in our alumni, and 6 teams to play for, we pride ourselves in being able to cater for the novice and the overly advanced hockey player

We train hard, we play hard, and we aim to make your time at Manchester unforgettable.

The “Purple and Proud” phrase is thrown around a lot in Manchester… but we honestly do our best to live it.

About the Club

Our 5 teams represent the University of Manchester each week in BUCs, the local Greater Manchester Women's Hockey League (GMWHL) and also North Hockey Women's League (NHWL). We uphold high levels of participation to ensure that we reach everyone's potential and produce the best hockey we possibly can. We maintain a great relationship with MUMHC as well as the campus league and rush hockey.

Club Philosophy

UMWHC is perfect for any girls looking to play hockey at a variety of levels and most importantly have fun with a great group of friends. We are committed sports people who train hard in order to progress up the leagues and have seen many successes over the last few seasons. We pride ourselves on being extremely inclusive of all players and helping them to progress to a standard which they want to achieve. We are extremely strong socially and the Wednesday night social is one of many players’ highlights of the week.

All members of the club understand they are ambassadors for the University and club. They understand the importance of conducting themselves in an appropriate manner both on and off the pitch. The club is built on the ideologies of team success and the benefits of hard work. We continue to promote both mental and physical strength within the sport and will value each individual member of the club and support their personal needs.

Teams

5 teams all of which compete in BUCS leagues.

About the league

The Campus Sport Hockey League is mixed; teams must have a 5-5 split in sexes in the outfield but the goalkeeper may be either. Staff and students are welcome to enter. The league runs from October to April and matches are played on Sundays, 4:00-8:00pm, on the Astroturf pitches at the Armitage Sports Centre.

Team captains are invited to attend a pre-season meeting, at the Armitage Site. At this meeting teams received all relevant league information for the year, including a handbook and league fixtures.
