If you are moving into University accommodation then you could be enjoying more than 35 hours of FREE sports and activities every week! The Hall Sport programme is aimed at newcomers to sport or those that want to exercise on a social level.
These drop-in sessions are available at venues close to your Halls so you can play sport when you feel like it. See below for further details on how to register and for timetables.
The registration process is easy. Use the link below and log in to your University account, you will be asked to complete an online form. You can download (or receive via email) an e-ticket that will give you access to any of the sessions on the Hall Sport timetable.
Remember you can go to as many sessions as you want and it is completely FREE – just bring either a printed or electronic version of your ticket.
Please note, if you took part in Hall Sport activities last year and have tickets left over, don't use these, instead re-register so we have your details as it is a new and simplified registration process for this year.
The Hall Sport 2016-17 timetable is now available to download. Hall Sport sessions start on Monday 12th October 2015.
This is a new initiative to help provide a better experience for members of residential gyms. As part of the Hall Sport programme we want to offer lifestyle support within the residences. Our aim is to ensure that healthy lifestyle advice is available to people living in halls. This is your chance to access expert coaches and trainers to help make best use of the facilities on your doorstep, whatever your experience or goals. The programme aims to create a sense of community in the residential gyms by providing training guidance and monthly workout plans. Personal trainers will be present in each of the residential gyms at the times detailed below.

"Being a professional actor-combatant means having a healthy lifestyle is so important for me in order to stay in shape, and be able to keep up with what's physically demanded of you in preparing for and performing a show. I studied Musical Theatre at University and know first hand just how easy it is to put on weight when you have very little time and money. (And Dominoes two for Tuesdays seems to become a weekly tradition...). However, with knowledge of what to eat, some fun cardio classes and weight training, I dropped three dress sizes and discovered how much I loved the world of fitness!
I am now qualified in many types of Dance Fitness, (specialising in Zumba and Bokwa), am a nutrition specialist and am in the middle of studying personal training. I am also training in all my stage combat weapons and looking into possible stunt work in the future. I am a huge believer that weights ARE for women too! (Victorias Secret models? They lift!) My favourite non dance fitness class to teach would have to be Legs Bums and Tums as these are really fun areas to sculpt, and squats are the best."
Michael is the creator of Kinisi Flow, a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon-Do, a former British & England team TaeKwon-Do champion & English Freestyle Kick Boxing Champion. A Coach to World Champions, a Professional Fitness Trainer & Online coach.
Having been in the fitness industry since 1998 which stemmed for his passion for the martial arts. He has gained vast experience through his professional approach to his work. Which has lead him to continue to research & expand his knowledge, as well as adapting new progressive ideas on fitness to his classes & clients.
Due to the years of competing and sporting injuries he has come full circle & renewed his passion for calisthenics, which has given him his new passion for movement training & has lead him to develop and create his system 'Kinisi Flow'.
Michael has been training within the martial arts since 1995, of which he has won many championship titles and was a member of the British Tae Kwon-Do squad. Michael is also versed in Muay Thai Kick Boxing, which makes him a very versatile experienced trainer. Michael currently teaches successful Tae Kwon-Do schools of his own, of which he is a coach to World, European & British champions. He also has successful online clients in which he has coached his wife 'Natalie Constant' to 4th place at the 'WBFF Diva Fitness Competition.'

Andy Ellison works in the Sport Office at the University of Manchester and manages the Campus Sport and Hall Sport programmes.
He has studied Sport Science and Exercise and Nutrition, along with being a qualified personal trainer. He is also a level 3 Lacrosse coach, and has coached grass roots to elite level players. He has been involved in coaching and playing for the England Lacrosse team for 10 years, and played in three Lacrosse World Games and won two European Championships with England.
Having a young family means that he understand the barriers that people face when trying to get into an exercise routine and lead a healthy life. His aim is to support students living in halls to embed healthy habits into their own lives. Being away from home and having a busy University timetable and social calendar can mean that leading a healthy lifestyle gets forgotten. The Supported Training team are here to help support and develop your healthy lifestyle habits, making them part of your University experience!
