UoM Sport

Futsal Club

Futsal is one of the fastest growing sports in the UK with The FA identifying it as a key part of its future plans. The fast-paced, technical sport is played all over the world and shares similarities to indoor and 5-a-side football. Played with a weighted ball on a hard surface (often indoor), futsal is great for fitness, the competitive player and everyone in between.

At UoM Sport we offer a complete pathway in the male and female game so everyone can enjoy the sport, no matter what level or experience.

About the Club

The University Futsal Club was founded in 2009 and is one of the most consistent high performing clubs within the Athletic Union. The club boasts two teams who compete in BUCS North and has a membership of 25 players. The club is also central to the growth of the game across the institution and is involved in the delivery of the Campus League and Sporticipate sessions.

1st team: BUCS North 1A
2nd team: BUCS North 3A

The 2017/18 academic year was a successful one for the club, which saw them nominated for most-improved club of the year due to the 1st team going unbeaten in 1A and narrowly missing out on promotion by a point and an increased membership saw the creation of the 2nd team which gained promotion.

The club has links to local clubs as well so for those looking for additional futsal opportunities they can help with that.

Club Philosophy

The club strive to be highly competitive and challenge for league honours season on season. It is also the clubs role to grow the sport at The University of Manchester, introducing the sport to a new audience. Finally it is a highly inclusive club with our membership being representative of our diverse international community!

Sporticipate Futsal

Would you like to try out futsal? Or have you played futsal before but haven’t played in a very long time? Are you staff member and can’t find people to play with? Then Sporticipate futsal is for you!

The university offers FREE futsal sessions for both students and staff at The University of Manchester!

Once you sign up, you can also try out other sports for free, with over 60 hours of free sport available each week!

Futsal gives participants the opportunity to learn the sport and how it differs to football as well as play friendly matches. The coach will organise the session and arrange suitable matches, so feel free to come along as an individual or part of a team. Just wear suitable clothing, indoor footwear and have a bottle of water at hand. We hope to see you there.
