About the Club

We are one of the largest sports clubs at the University of Manchester with over 100 active members. We train twice a week at Manchester Grammar School throughout the academic year and we also run a range of indoor competitions throughout the winter. These are open to all abilities and both members and non-members.

We run 4 BUCS teams throughout the summer competing in various divisions in the Northern League. In 2017 our 1st IX won the BUCS Northern Premier, a division including the likes of Loughborough and Leeds/Leeds Beckett with strong teams including MCCU members, narrowly missing out on entering the National league in a play-off against a very strong Bristol team. In that same year the 1st XI made the BUCS national cup final, beating Oxford Uni along the way, although again unfortunately losing to Bristol in a very tight game at Hyde CC.

Each year the club organises at least one international tour with the most recent being to Prague in April 2018 and three matches in Dublin during the summer.

The UMCC also runs a successful campus football and rugby team throughout the winter ,which is very popular throughout the club, keeping us competitive all year round.

Club Philosophy

The UMCC prides itself on its inclusive nature and offering cricket at every level of ability. From newcomers to the game to first class standard players, everyone is welcome in the club and will receive outstanding coaching at all levels. We always make sure that people from up and down the club feel that they are involved, all the way from playing or socialising to the day to day running of the club. One of our main goals for this year is to involve ourselves and the university in cricketing development and charity schemes across Manchester with much work already having been done with the Lancashire Cricket board to increase our outreach throughout the community. (If you would like to be involved with this charity work please contact our charity secretary Betsie Lewis at elizabethlewis130@yahoo.co.uk). With this years UMCC more inclusive than ever make this the year you make the UMCC your club!
