About the Club

Manchester University Boat Club was founded in 1932 and has since grown into a thriving club filled with novice and senior members.

Each year we take on 300+ members, all of whom are given the opportunities to train at our facilities and go onto compete in events such as BUCS, Head of the River, Women's Head of the River, Women's Henley & Henley Royal Regatta.

We have our own boat house on the Bridgewater canal along with an extensive fleet of racing shells.

Club Philosophy

The club welcomes anyone willing to commit themselves to a new and rewarding sport. You will be given the opportunity to work hard and see the improvement. Above all we are a competitive club and love to win!

If you are currently a student at Manchester or are joining in September and are interested in rowing for the university please check out the website and join the relevant Facebook group for more information.

Teams

There are no set leagues for rowing. Our crews compete in numerous difficulties from novice (no prior experience) to elite levels depending upon the nature of the event and available categories. If you have never rowed before you will join the Novice squad.

Training Times and Locations

Wednesday afternoons, Saturday and Sunday mornings are spent on the water at Dane road (times variable due to weather, light etc).

Weights sessions are available for all levels: The novice squad can partake in weights circuit training that combines cardio with strength building, Thursdays 6-7pm or 7-8pm. Senior squads have heavy weight lifting sessions on Mondays and Thursdays, 6-7pm or 7-8pm.
