FA Community Football Hub

The University of Manchester is delighted to be part of The Football Association and BUCS University Community Football Hub initaitve that aims to expand our current football provision both within the University and for children and young people in the wider community.

For students at Manchester we currently provide:

Entry #SPORTicipate

Entry level provides free or low cost opportunties that do not require huge time investment. Sessions are designed for beginners to the sport or those who are looking to build confidence after some time out of the game.

Women's begineer football sessions are delivered on Monday's 6:00-7:30PM at The Armitage Centre and Tuesday 6:00-7:00PM at The Sugden Centre.

General pay and play 5-a-side slots are also available at The Armitage Centre. Please click here to book.

Recreation #PURPLEatHEART

Our recreation level provides footballing opportunities for those who want to play on a regular basis in a social environment. Working alongside community partners, we aim to provide a competitve level for everyone.

  • The Campus League 11-a-side is our inta-mural league and one of the largest in the country with 50 teams across 5 divisions which takes place every Wednesday at Wythenshawe Sports Group.
  • Mixed Futsal Campus League also provides an opportunity to learn the short version of the game and allows male and female students to play together!
  • Women's Recreation League in association with Manchester FA will provide a mid-level league format for female students who are looking to become more confident playing the beautiful game. More information to follow.
  • Student Soccer League provides 5-a-side leagues 7 days a week.

Performance #PURPLEandPROUD

The performance level is for dedicated and talented players who are looking to represent the university and play at the highest level they can. The University has a strong Athletic Union tradition with a number of teams playing at various levels in BUCS against other institutions. We are proud to have:

Football Leadership Programme

A major focus of our hub is to provide opportunites for student to develop experience in leadership and workforce roles and assist the hub in working with community partners to deliver programmes for children and young people. We are looking for students who have an interest in working in football, are interested in coaching and officiating qualifications and who are passionate about delivering football programming.
