Volunteer at parkrun

South Manchester parkrun needs you! It is entirely organised by volunteers, to find out more about how to get involved in organising and facilitating this event, and much more, please see the Sports Volunteer Scheme.

Lunchtime Health Walks

The University of Manchester Walking Programme, Lunchtime Strollers, is accredited by Walking for Health (a collaboration between Macmillan Cancer Support and the Ramblers).

The walks are a great way to get out of the office, get active, meet new people. We walk come rain or shine, so do make sure you wear appropriate clothing (waterproofs & brollies in winter, sun cream in summer).

The minimum recommendation from doctors to keep your body healthy and prevent illness such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes is 150 minutes of activity a week. So you could look at that as just 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. If you attend all three of the health walks with the Lunchtime Strollers you will easily achieve the recommended 150 minutes of activity a week.
